It’s another 2centSunday! This one is taken from The Treasure Principle, by Randy Alcorn
This little book based on the Bible can be a life-changing read. The subtitle is “unlocking the secret of joyful giving”. Give it a read! Over the next 6 Sundays, we’d like to briefly share about 1 of the 6 treasure principles…
Principle 1: God owns everything. I’m His money manager. Page 23 of the edition I own lists the first treasure principle. It’s based on many passages in the Bible, but Psalm 24:1 sums it up well. “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him” (NLT). God owns everything, including our money, our houses, our cars and ourselves.
God also entrusted us with everything. “…God blessed them. And God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.’ (Genesis 1:28, ESV). If we understand this principle, we better understand our place in this world as a child of God and steward of His creation. Everything we own is really owned by God and He has entrusted all of it to us!
With the holidays upon us, we thought we’d provide a contrary perspective to the hustle and bustle of our culture and holiday tradition. We hope 2centSunday is a brief respite from the madness.
Stay tuned for principle 2 or just get the book!
