A Different Kind of Deal- Part II

Sorry to those of you who have been waiting on the continuation of A Different Kind of Deal.  I (Kristy) broke my wrist 11 days ago and besides being incredibly painful, it makes posting very difficult, but here I am.  Hopefully you have gotten to check out Bible Study Fellowship since I posted on it.  Here's another great deal in more ways than one.

When my twins turned 3 (AWANA is for ages 2 through 6th grade) we signed them up for AWANA. The best way to describe AWANA is that it's very similar to VBS but it meets on a weekly basis during the school year.  Another way to understand it is it's much like Scouts but in a church.  Kids earn patches/jewels by learning Bible verses.  There are also tons of games, snacks and story time as well.  It lasts for 90 minutes and usually meets on a Sunday or Wednesday evening.  My kids look forward to it all week and would go every night if we let them.  They love it.

My favorite part?  My husband and I use it as our date night.  We drop the kids off and then we run to a restaurant (with coupons of course!!!) for a bite to eat and some uninterrupted conversation!  There are also many ways to volunteer for a local AWANA club.  I often provide snacks for the Cubbies class (preschool age).

AWANA is not completely free but it's really cheap.  I think it's about 50 cents per week/per child (possibly depending on the church) and you also can choose to buy a vest, bag and handbook.  Look for an AWANA club near you. Your kids will LOVE it!!!

How's that for A Different Kind of Deal?  Have you tried AWANA?  Do you have any national Different Kind of Deals to share with us?
