Neither Kristy nor I are big Walmart shoppers. But they have just announced a new and updated Walmart Coupon Policy. A few of the updates definitely have peaked my interest. Here some of the most exciting additions:
1) Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.
2) Checkout coupons or "Catalinas" that are printed at our competitors' registers, have "Manufacturer Coupon" with specific requirements printed on them, a valid remit address for the manufacturer, valid expiration date, and a scannable bar code, will now be accepted.
So... This means Walmart now will allow for what we call "overage" or "money-maker" transactions. For instance, I believe that Walmart sells the Gain fabric softener sheets for less than $3. If you have one of the high value $3 Gain softener coupons, you will actually get back the overage on the purchase. I also like that they will take Catalina's (coupons that print from a special printer at the register) from other stores.
Also, Walmart now does not accept print-at-home Internet coupons that require no purchase. Make sure to read the whole policy and maybe even make a copy to keep with your coupons. I am sure that it will take some time for cashiers to be fully aware of these changes.
