Giant Eagle 4/7-4/13

We don't usually cover Giant Eagle since we're majorly partial to Kroger but this week is too good to pass up. Generally I hit GE at least once a month to take advantage of their loss leaders (sweet deals!) and to get a discount on my gas. Some money savers like to frequent GE for their gas savings.  While their gas program is excellent, imo, I tend to spend way more money when I shop at Giant Eagle versus Kroger so the savings on gas does not make up for the food prices.
That does not carry over to their loss leaders though. Giant Eagle has some of the best sales out there. Here are just a few for this week! And remember, Central Ohio readers, you get 20 cents off gas for every $50 you spend. Remember this is only on one fill up, not 4-8 like Kroger.

Kroger Today and Tomorrow Only?

Have you tried Santa Cruz Organic juices yet? I was able to score an entire case (24 jars) for around $2 the last time this coupon came out. The deal isn't as good at Kroger this time but if you like organic juice, I'd say this one is definitely worth the trip!  Kroger has SC Organic for Buy One Get One (BOGO) today and tomorrow in the Columbus Region which makes the juice 65 cents each (since coupons double up to .99 cents here) with coupon. Look out for this one at Whole Foods as well since the coupon doesn't expire until the end June and didn't seem to have a print limit when I tried it.

Thanks for the heads up on the BOGO sale, Deal Seeking Mom!

Be an Ethical Couponer!

There is drama in the world of "extreme couponing".  Anything done to an extreme is dangerous.  And now apparently can be unethical as well.  It has come to light that one of the women featured in TLC's "Extreme Couponing" used fraudulent techniques to score her 95% savings. This high of a percentage is not realistic (I am usually right around 40-50% with the highest around 75% during triple coupons). In a quest to save your family money, don't forget to follow the letter of the law when it comes to couponing.  The woman is apparently notorious for "decoding coupons".  This means using a coupon for an item it was not intended for.  For instance, right now there is a high value coupon out for $1 off Post Honey Bunches of Oats Raisin Medley (SS, 2/27).  This coupon is obviously just for this specific variety, it would be fraudulent to use this coupon on the Original Honey Bunches of Oats.  Most of the time scanner systems will not catch the distinction, so it will not beep (coupons "beep" at the register when the bar code tells the scanner it is not valid).  Regardless of whether the scanner accepts it, it is still not the right thing to do.  This show from TLC has shown a spotlight on couponing.  As real, practical couponers, let's be sure we are setting the right example.

I love the 10 Commandments of Couponing that Bargain Briana created.  Check them out, and live by them!

1. Thou Shall Not Used Expired Coupons. Unless it is your stores policy to accept them. Sometimes they will not beep even with expired but that doesn't mean you should use them!
2. Thou Shall Use the Coupon for the Item Intended.
3. Thous Shall Understand the Requirements and Restrictions on the Coupon. Read the coupon language carefully. Sometimes there is a certain number you have to purchase or a specific variety is only included on the coupon.
4. Thou Shall Not Decode the Coupon. Briefly, it is a flaw in the system that allows a coupon to be used on a item it is not intended for without causing issues at the register. We do not condone this practice!
5. Thou Shall Not Alter Coupons.
6. Thou Shall Not Make Copies of Printable Coupons. Making copies of printable coupons is a big "no no".
7. Thou Shall Not Clear the Shelves. Leave some of the rest of the world! :) Do you really need 50 bottles of mustard?!
8. Thou Shall Question Any FREE Item Coupons for Legitimacy. The old adage, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
9. Thou Shall Not Misuse the Self Checkout System. Again, just because the system allows it doesn't always mean you should do it!
10. Thou Shall Use Your Couponing Powers for Good Only!

As always, we love to hear your thoughts!  Weigh in on it!

StephieMc Designs Review and Coupon Code

At the beginning of the year the stamped jewelry trend started to catch my eye. I looked at a few artists, but really was still window shopping. Then a deal came up from Groupon for stamped jewelry. I didn't do much research on the company, but thought it was the opportunity I had been waiting for. Unfortunately, sometimes I get so excited about the deal, and have bargain hunters remorse in the end. I received my necklace from the company, but was very underwhelmed. The quality was not at all what I expected. Each time I wore the piece I became more and more frustrated. So what did I do? Pouted and looked at other stamped jewelry sites to dream about what could have been. That is when I found StephieMc Designs. StephieMc Designs hand creates custom sterling silver jewelry.  Each piece is hand stamped and personalized, and no two pieces are ever the same!  Just from the pictures alone I could tell her pieces were on the next level! And so many people were sending her love for the pieces she made for them. I emailed Stephanie and her team to tell her of my woes and to let her know I wished I had waited till I found her! Well, guess what came in my mail yesterday, my infinitely better, beautifully handcrafted, stamped necklace from StephieMc. They graciously gave me the piece and I am so excited to recommend her designs to you! She has so many great styles and options to choose from. My necklace is called "my cup runneth over". What a sweet sentiment to hold my children's names. The ball chain adds style and spunk to entire piece. Each little detail; my kids names, the "cup" shape, the delicately wrapped metal on the charms and the slight iridescence of the birthstone beads, is done so professionally.

A piece from StephieMc Designs would be perfect for any occasion: bridesmaids, sweet 16, sisters, BFF, anyone! And of course mothers. Visit the site and place an order today! The deadline for Mother's Day orders is this Friday. Use code 4R2CENTS to save 25% off your order. My interactions with StephieMc and her team have been amazing. Don't make the same mistake I did, choose StephieMc Designs!
