$10 off $10 purchase at JCPenny

a A great way for new Ebates or ShopAtHome members to get their $5 sign-up bonus is to make their first $20+ purchase at JCPenney and use this coupon code DADROCKS for $10 off any $10 purchase and get 3% cash back thru Ebates or ShopAtHome at JCPenney.com. So for new Ebates or ShopAtHome members it’s like getting $15 off a $20 purchase ($10 deducted with coupon code, $5 cash back at the next rebate payment period) plus you get 3% cash back too. But of course everyone can use this new hot coupon for a great deal!

TIP: If your $10 off doesn’t apply to your order, go back and type it in again (all caps) DADROCKS. Some people are having to try twice before this coupon code applies to the order.

Think of it as a $10 coupon, because yes you do have to pay shipping ($5.95) or a store pick-up fee ($4.50). You can only use this coupon code once. It sounds like it even works on Outlet items! The expiration date is Sunday, June 20. UPDATE: A CODE WAS JUST RELEASED FOR FREE SHIPPING. COOL4POP IN ALL CAPS. TRY THESE TWO CODES TOGETHER FOR GREATER SAVINGS.

More On-line Rebate Sites: BigCrumbs and ShopAtHome

If you shop online and don't go through a rebate site, you are loosing money! We have mentioned Ebates but they are not the only game in town. Shop around the rebates sites just like you would any other site. Some sites offer direct payment into a paypal account each month (BigCrumbs) and others send you a check (ShopAtHome). Often one site might have a higher cash back threshold or they might run a special higher cash back percentage for a limited time. You will have to train yourself to go to the rebate site first (not directly to the purchasing store), but once you are there, they also offer promotional codes to earn you even more savings. ShopAtHome even has a tool bar that you can download to make saving even easier.

Here are just a few of the cash back offers waiting for you (highest cash back site listed):

Snapfish: 9.5% cash back at Ebates
Ebay: 35% of seller fee cash back at BigCrumbs
The Children's Place: 5% cash back at ShopAtHome
Old Navy: 5% cash back at ShopAtHome
Best Buy: 4.8% cash back at BigCrumbs
Home Depot: 5% cash back at Ebates
Shoes.com: 13% cash back at ShopAtHome (BTW- free shipping both ways, genius! No more screaming children in a shoe store!)

Think Before You Buy

American Culture trains us to gratify our senses. If we see something we want we go get it. That's part of what makes America great...unless you're racking up a bunch of debt trying to keep up. In the past several years a simple habit (discipline) has revolutionized my budget.

If there is something I need my discipline is to search high and low for a used (preferably barely used) alternative before I buy new. Our family is notorious for killing cameras so we don't want to put a ton of money into them. We decided to buy off Ebay for our last digital camera and we've had the best experience with our Nikkon. We paid 1/2 price for a camera that had been used once or twice.

Just recently we needed a video camera. Ours has not been working for about 2 years now and we were realizing how much of the kids lives we were missing. I decided to keep a watch for a video camera. Just the other day a woman (who bought a camera a couple of years ago and decided she didn't want it) posted a barely used video camera. $60! It's not the newest camera in the world but it will do us quite well for how we plan to use it. I can't even count the amount of money we've saved recently since we do this with clothes, furniture, tech devices...you name it.

Don't be afraid of buying used but do be careful. It's not always the deal that it seems.

Check out:
Craigslist
FreeCycle
Neighborhood groups like Craigslist
Moms groups in town (great for strollers, baby needs)
Play It Again Sports (or similar stores)
Resale shops in upscale areas of town

The moral here is this: Think before you buy...brainstorm ways to get what you need at the lowest price possible.

Free Swag Code...Good til 3AM EST

Abuelo's Email Clubs

A great way to save is by joining the Email Clubs of your favorite restaurants and stores. Just today Abuelo's (Yum, I LOVE Tex Mex) sent me $5 of the purchase of $20.

I have these sent to my junk email so it doesn't get confused with important emails but once in a while there are GREAT deals that come via the Eclubs.

Here is the Abuelo's link in case you are interested.

Do You Need Pull-Ups?

Toys R Us is running a deal on Pull-Ups right now. Buy 2 packs of Pull-Ups and get a $5 gift card to be used at Toys R Us. In our house that means buy 2 packs and get a free Bakugan Ball or a free pack of Silly Bandz.

If you have $2 off coupons for Pull-Ups, you might have quite the deal!

Do you hate shopping for toilet paper?

Here's a way to avoid toilet paper shopping for quite a while.
Staples has 96 rolls of 2-ply Charmin toilet paper for $41.99. That sounds like a lot but it's 44 cents per roll. Also, throw a Charmin coupon in there, use your Staples Rewards and you've got yourself a deal. The best part about this one is you won't have to think about running out of toilet paper for a long, long time!
Also, spend $100 at Staples and get a free case of paper, a $37 dollar value.

Get Your Groupon!

Have you gotten your Groupon yet? This is the latest and greatest way to save. Since 2008 this company Groupon has been offering discounted certificates (usually a 50% savings) and now they are in 40 different major markets. I personally have purchased a few through Groupon and what a savings they provide.

Just like Groupon, there is The Daily Deals. Today The Daily Deals is offering half off services at the Aveda Institute. Aveda prices are already severely discounted. $19 for haircuts and $25 for color. Today's coupon (offered in Columbus) allowed for $25.00 certificate for a mere $12.50. I decided to buy two Groupons (usually you can buy an unlimited amount) and get a GREAT deal on a haircut. I will be spending $25 (before tip) on a cut and color. That's 25% of what I usually spend. My husband will be loving me!

Check out Groupon and The Daily Deals! Not in Columbus? Check out www.halfoffdeals.com and sign up today!

Ebates!

Do you buy products online? Do you find it easier to just order via the web instead of braving the malls? Well, we have a tip for you! Ebates! This is a hidden gem on the World Wide Web.

Basically, Ebates is a tool to save money on a product. Here's an example. My father in law shopped for days looking for the very best deal on a flat screen television. He finally found the one he wanted on the Walmart website. He got a great deal and free shipping. He didn't use Ebates though and didn't realize that he could have saved more than $15 dollars! When I told him about Ebates he was asking me to show it to him because he wanted to save in the future.

Ebates is totally the way to go! Be sure to sign up today!

Swag Code Alert!

Check your toolbar for a code for 5 swagbucks. Then go to the Swagbucks home page and enter it in the "Gimme" box. Good till 7pm!

Don't know what Swagbucks is? You are missing out on free $$! Check out Swagbucks, you'll be glad you did!

HIGH VALUE Coupons!!!

We LOVE Kellogg's Nutrigrain bars around here and thanks to Stretching a Buck, we have a $1.00 off coupon. Follow the link and sign up for 3 great coupons.

Thanks Stretching a Buck!

Here is an insider tip! Get on the CVS email list then lookout for emails that come out on Wednesday or Thursday usually. Often they offer $4/$20. These are valuable! Good Morning Coffee Drinkers

If you are spending an arm and a leg at Starbucks, just think of all the money you could be saving by making your own coffee at home. I'm a mocha fan but I have a hard time justifying $4 per cup. My first rule is this. If I don't have a free gift card to Starbucks/Caribou/Tim Hortons then I don't buy the coffee. Where do you get these free gift cards you ask? Primarily My Points. Both Mary and Kristy are HUGE proponents of My Points.

If I've run out of my free gift cards it's either time to start earning more My Points or get creative. This morning I found this recipe online and it could NOT be easier to make a mocha than this. Use your coupons, buy (insert your favorite coffee brand here) and save save save. Imagine what you could save if you were no longer buying that fabulous cup of Joe!
