This Week at Marc's

One of the stores that we feel is often left out is Marc's. For most people, a trip to Marc's is out of the way. So it might not be somewhere you go every week, but still has some great deals. I already mentioned the free Marcel TP. There are also several items I can only find at Marc's. They stock a terrific Hunts Sugar Free spaghetti sauce that I love. My DH also loves fruit pancake syrup and they have the best price always! Marc's also has a “closeouts” department. Think of it kind of like Big Lots. They often have toys or clothing at discounted prices. I once bought a Hanes Sports bra for $2.99 and a Champion athletic tank (with Target tag still attached) for $1.99. We will be listing a few of the highlights each week. Let’s get some of the necessary info out first, they do not double coupons but they do take online printed MQs. From time to time they also offer rebate deals (a few months back I got a $10 Discover GC from purchasing P&G products.) Here are some of the deals you will find at Marc's this week:

We LOVE Chick Fil A

Okay I have to admit it. I love Chick Fil-A. Most of my "eating out" budget goes right to Chick Fil-A. Thankfully there isn't one that is super convenient so we don't go every day or every week but we are there as often as possible. I love that they are a Christian company, they are closed on Sundays so their families can enjoy their day together (gotta admit...I don't love that part...you don't know HOW many times I've found myself waiting in the drive thru on a Sunday only to realize they are CLOSED) and the best part about my beloved Chick Fil-a? They have a sound proof kids' play area. Did I mention I love Chick Fil-A?

Well, here's your chance to get a FREE chicken sandwich starting on Memorial Day. Be sure to sign up RIGHT AWAY because these sandwiches are GOING FAST.

Are YOU on FACEBOOK?

If you are on Facebook do you know that you could be saving a TON of money? Companies are starting to realize that social networking is the way to advertise. The more the merrier I say. I have been saving so much just by "liking" or "fanning" these companies on Facebook. One of my absolute favorites is Einstein Brothers Bagels. Hit the "like" button on their fan page and it will open up the doors to many coupons over the next few weeks.

So far I've gotten 10 free bagels and other GREAT deals. Today it's a BOGO (Buy One GET One) coupon for their new Bagel Thin Sandwich. I just had one today and it was really good. The price ends up $4.29 for 2 bagel sandwiches. Not a bad price for lunch.

Einsteins is not the only company to be offering free food so go find your favorite company on Facebook then hit their "offers" tab to see what they have for you. If you find something good don't forget to share it with us. Remember, we love FREE!

Looking for Cottonelle?

Great Deal: Just stack one Target coupon with a manufacturer's coupon (linked below) for a great price on Cottonelle Bathroom Tissue.
Note: Use the IE link if you are using Internet Explorer and FF link if you are using Fire Fox.

Cottonelle TP (IE) MQ
Cottonelle TP (FF) MQ
Cottonelle TP Target Coupon

FYI... New to couponing? You may need to download the coupon software. It's quick and easy. Also, the MQ (manufacturer's coupon is put out by the company that produces the product and that company reimburses the store for the price on the coupon).
The store coupon (ie. Kroger, Target) is put out by the store and these do not double (if your store's policy is to double coupons, this is generally only manufacturer's coupons).

Good Question

Via Facebook we just received our first question. It was in response to the post below concerning Marcs and Marcal Toilet Paper. Carrie asked, "But what if you like your TP soft?"

In essence, I think she's asking what many couponers or to-be couponers ask themselves. "Do I have to sacrifice quality to save money?"

That's what we're taught, right? You get what you pay for? Well, sometimes yes, sometimes no. Honestly I am a generics kind of gal. Let me qualify that. I'm a Kroger Generics kind of gal. If I don't have coupons for something I need I can buy with confidence knowing that most Kroger brands are as good or better than their name brand competitors.

But what if you are a brand loyalist? Can you still save money? The answer is yes...but you have to stock pile. Case in point. Today you can find Cottenelle brand Toilet paper (my favorite brand) for a GREAT price at Target. Target allows the customer to stack a Target coupon with a manufacturer's coupon. This means mega savings for the consumer. The details of this deal are in the post above but this is just an example of a way to stay loyal to a favorite brand and still save money. As you continue in your coupon journey you will see that much of your savings comes from stockpiling when prices are at their lowest. Looking out for these rock bottom prices (which occur about every 3 months) helps you to save the most money. Having space in your home for your stash is a necessity as well.

Often you will see (especially if your grocery doubles coupons) that you can save way more with the name brand product than with the store brand. Giant Eagle was running a Yoplait yogurt deal a few weeks back. I was able to get the 6 ounce yogurts for 22 cents a piece instead of 41 cents for the Kroger brand. Not a bad deal.

If you are willing to step out of your comfort zone and get a little crazy (ie. buying Yoplait instead of the Kroger brand) you will find your grocery budget slimming with each purchase.
And if you are new to couponing, take it slow. Pick a few items per week and save a little each time. Soon you'll see that its not that hard to save a lot of money.

Talking TP

We often joke with each other that we hate paying for TP; just flushing our money away!! ;) So if you can't stand even paying one cents for it, here is one way to get it FREE. Marc's sells the four pack rolls of Marcel (same TP as in the Staples deal) for .98 cents. Use the Manufacturers Coupon (MQ) from last weeks SmartSource (SS) insert to get $1 off one package. Or go here to print one for $1 off. Yeah FREE TP! It's the little things in life that make us happy! :)
